About Me
My career in horses started at a very young age, first sitting on a pony age 2, I was bitten by the pony bug, living and breathing all that was involved in looking after and riding ponies through growing up with my parents trekking centre which evolved into a riding school when I was 12. Any spare moment away from school was on the yard looking after the horses, helping with lessons and treks etc.
I always knew horses were to be my career and after leaving school to go to college the path to becoming a qualified riding instructor had begun. I went on to complete my BHS Stage 1,2 and 3 exams with tuition from John Collier at Blackdyke Farm and Teaching tuition from Marianne Watts to complete my BHSAI. During this time, I was teaching at the riding school and found great enjoyment out of seeing riders of all ages develop in ability and confidence. I studied Mary Wanless’ teaching methods and found these very helpful for all levels.
Monty Roberts had always been a huge influence on how we work with horses ever since first seeing a programme on QED. I completed the Monty Roberts Intelligent Horsemanship Foundation and Intermediate courses in Oxford. Using his methods, we brought on young horses for the riding school, solved problems with our own and customers horses and taught our riders the benefits of being able to work with the horse’s natural instincts to form partnerships on the ground and whilst riding.
My parents closed the riding school to retire in September 2019 so I am now available freelance to help riders with their horses.
